Simple Home Remedies To Treat Vaginal Odour

‎On Wednesday I was to give a talk/lecture/speech(call it what you like) somewhere.
As I sat at the venue waiting to be called up to speak, a Very young and attractive lady walked past me.
Guess what? I just couldn't breathe cos she stunk like a dead rotten fish. Hence! My topic for today.

Many of us women feel so embarrassed to talk about our problems and issues with personal hygiene. Some of us even feel so embarrassed and uncomfortable talking about to to certified Doctors and health workers as well. We'd rather mask it down by using lots of perfumes and deodorants.

Well, my beloved sisters, I'm here to tell you it should not be so. ;)

There are different causes of bad feminine smell, which includes:
-Bad vagina bacteria
-Overgrowth of bacteria in the vagina
-Vaginal yeast infection
-Candida yeast infection
-Bacterial vaginosis
Amongst others.

‎Bad vaginal odour is often associated with the following warning signals:
- Itchiness in the vaginal area
- Fishy smell
- Redness
-Rusty smell

Want a Home Remedy for this problem?
1. A CUP OF YOGHURT A DAY, KEEPS THE ODOUR AWAY.

Simply have two cups of unsweetened yoghurt(Habib, Aqua Rapha, Nagari etc) a day, preferably with meals to restore the normal pH in the vagina. Another yoghurt option you can try is soaking one tampon in plain yogurt and inserting the soaked tampon into your body. Remove tampon after 2–3 hours and use clean water to rinse that area thoroughly or better still, you can leave it overnight but make sure you remove it in the morning.

2. AVOID SILK AND TIGHT FITTING PANTIES LIKE PLAGUE
‎I know ladies love silky and tight fitting panties cos If makes them feel sexier. Avoid wearing them as it
can lead to excessive perspiration or trapping of urine hence causing odour. Cos just as your body, your privates need to breathe as well. Thus, you must give up wearing silky and tight fitting panties like thong right away instead, grab some cotton panties.

3. TEA TREE OIL REMEDY
Mix a few drops of year tree oil in a small bowl of warm water. Use the solution to rinse your vagina once daily for 3-4weeks. Or you can drop a few drops of this oil in water, soak yourself in it for 30minutes 2-3 times in a week till you perceive a noticeable difference in smell.

4. GARLIC HELPS KILL ODOUR
Garlic is a natural antibiotic that can cure the infection and deodorants for vagina.
- You can eat raw garlic or add them in the daily dishes.
- You can take garlic pills or peel the fresh garlic, wrap it and insert it into the vagina.
This remedy to me seems like the simplest one.

5. BAKING POWDER/SODA
Baking powder helps bring your pH levels back to normal. Drop a few teaspoons of baking powder in your bath and soak in it for about 20 minutes. Or Add a teaspoon of baking powder in a glass of
warm water and drink it each day, till you notice an obvious difference in the way you smell.

6. SOAP ISN'T THE BEST OPTION
I'll always advice any young lady to avoid using soap as much as possible especially antiseptic or anti bacterial soaps as these soaps in the bid to kill the bad bacteria in the vagina changes the pH of the vagina thereby giving bad bacterias room to thrive. Just plain water is Ok. Anyways, if you cannot do without washing with soap i suggest you avoid perfumed soaps and you use plain unscented soaps like Dove, Zest Aqua or even the very popular and affordable premier soap Milk bar(white).

7. WASH GENITAL AREAS AFTER USING THE LOO
Please, please and please, always remember to wash your genitals after going to pee cos urine if not washed of can make the genitals wet, causing odour or even gibing rise to a yeast infection. some may say, its too irky or gets your genitals wet, well you can wash it once you get home from the market, work or any activities that may have caused heavy perspiration.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES

Well, for my beloved sisters that don't have that condition yet, or for the sisters who have survived this dilemma, here are some of the measures to take note of to avoid the occurrence or re-occurrence of vaginal odour.
(i)   Reduce your daily intake of sugary foods
(ii)  Always wear cotton panties and avoid silky, netty or tight fitting undies.
(iii) Change your sanitary poads, napkins, towels and tampons frequently.
(iv) Avoid douching
(v)  Avoid hot baths as it can kill important bacterias in your vagina.
